Republicca Romana

1798 - 7 Paoli

Look at the wonderful array of Republican symbols scattered on this note. The fasces topped by the Liberty cap. A young woman, a common image to represent the youthful Republics matches it on the right. The eagle is reminiscent of the glories of Rome and anticipates the eagles of Napoleonic France.

Not being a Mason myself I can only speculate that that is the origin of the symbol under the eagle's right wing.

This reverse is pristine, without any handwriting.

Can't figure out whether the central image is deliberately 'broken' or this is a flaw that is part of the printing process.
