| This seems to be the pattern
used by the Papal States for several years at least. The
reverse has at least three different notes scribbled on
it but none of it is clear enough for me to decipher.
Clearly, the Papal States money was too large to carry
around comfortably, fold marks would indicate about 1/8
size was right to carry.
