1803 - 20 Francs

20 Francs - 1803

Another piece of post revolutionary paper money. Both pieces I have are payable in Rouen, was there a shortage of gold and silver there? I ask that because a rough translation of the main text is as follows:
"At sight we will pay the carrier twenty francs, in currency of billon, coppers or clouche, during this day, as we have them recus."
Silver and gold are not mentioned as you can see. At the top we are told the office hours which appear to be daily from 9 to 2 and 4 to 6. On the bottom though it looks like we'll be closed on National holidays and Sundays.
