| A print from the 1860's about the great Tyrol leader, Andreas Hofer. |
Another card from the same series as before (c.1805) This one is about
the mole. |
And another, this is the tiger. |
A fourth card from the same manufacturer. This set must have taught facts
about countries. |
| An interesting print of Napoleon and his Generals. I'd date it to the 1850s because it's a British print. But the paper content has a high concentration of cloth instead of wood pulp and the choice of Generals is odd; I would have expected a later print to include Davout and not Kleber, a man who didn't personally like Napoleon that much. |
A print that was once quite prized, it has been mounted on heavy cardstock and shows evidence of having been framed. This is Napoleon's younger brother Jerome Bonaparte. |
Musicians of Napoleon's Guard Cavalry. This is a hand watercolored print, probably post 1840 that shows some of the fantastic clothing of these men. The practical advantage to these outfits was that they were easy for their commanders to spot in the heat of battle. |
A Gillray print from a book printed in the 1850s or so. This one depicts the British aristocracy and merchant class that thronged to France during the Peace of Amiens. Here he's lampooning the tourists groveling at the feet of the First Consul. |
