Prince Royal of France and heir apparent to Louis-Phillipe the Duke D'Orleans died after jumping from a run-away carriage and breaking his skull. During the early 1840s the French appear to have been experimenting with oddly shaped medals. This is the first ten-sided piece I've collected, the others from this time have all been twelve-sided. Unlisted in any of my references it is made of lead and appears to have been produced in haste.
