Napoleon
Obverse - France - Napoleon - 1840s Reverse - France - Napoleon - 1840s
Bust of Napoleon, facing right. Complex cypher, probably of the engraver's name. Rev: An Imperial eagle, wings outstretched, grips a fulmen and lightning.
Médaille, 19 x 24 mm.

I've tentatively dated this medal as from the 1840s, around the time of the return of Napoleon's body to France from St. Helena. But it could easily date into the 1920s. The eagle on the reverse is very high relief, surprising considering the poor detail. It is the same size as a similar piece onsite.
