| Tentatively dated around 1790 this jeton is paper thin and is probably as struck, with little or no wear. It could easily date from as early as 1780 though I suspect it has something to do with the expected wind-down of the Austro-Russian War with the Ottoman Empire. If so, it was probably struck early in the year with Joseph dying in February and succeeded by Leopold. |
